My son is very happy with this welding wire. He is 15 and learning to weld so inexpensive & quantity is the ideal situation. I think he may be going thru his second spool on his 115 v wire feed. He uses it on bicycles, sheet metal and material up to about 1/8 inch thick with success.
The Best Metals For Welding | Metal Supermarkets - Steel
Apr 23, 2018· Welding is a complied process which means there are many compliions that can arise. One way to reduce the risk is by selecting a metal that is easily weldable and does not require many extra pre-weld and post-weld operatins to prevent weld failure. Below are some of the best metals for welding.
What is Submerged-arc Welding? - TWI
Welding current (typically between 300 and 1000 amperes), arc voltage and travel speed all affect bead shape, depth of penetration and chemical composition of the deposited weld metal. Since the operator cannot observe the weld pool, great reliance must be placed on parameter setting and positioning of the filler wire.
Side Effects of Galvanized Steel Welding | Healthfully
Welding galvanized steel is common in the metal fabriing industry 1. Most welders will at some point in their career perform a weld on galvanized steel and encounter galvanize poisoning or “metal fume fever.” Galvanize poisoning is a short-term reaction to overexposure of zinc oxide 1.
The 3 Most Dangerous Mistakes Beginner Welders Make
Welding Procedure Beginner Mistake #1: Not controlling the heat and weld puddle resulting in poor weld penetration and poor weld strength. No matter what welding procedure you’re using, whether it’s tig, mig, arc, or oxy acetylene welding, heat control is the thing to keep in mind.
What is a MIG Welder & How Does It Work – A Beginners Guide
MIG welding, or Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), is a type of welding method that uses a shielding gas to protect your wire electrode. This will heat both metals so they can be fused together. This method of welding requires a constant flow of voltage and a direct current (DC) power source for the process.

How to Make Perfect Rosette or Spot Welds with your MIG
Below we show you the process for making a “spot weld” with your MIG welder. Start by marking out even spacing of where you want your spot or plug welds on the metal. I like to try and center the weld in the flange or weld seam. You can than take a drill or a metal punch to make holes in the top layer of the metal. Don’t forget to mark
MIG Welding - How to MIG Weld, Process Overview and
MIG welding is an abbreviation for Metal Inert Gas Welding. It is a process developed in the 1940’s, and is considered semi-automated. This means that the welder still requires skill, but that the MIG welding machine will continuously keep filling the joint being welded and electrodes do not need to be changed out between welds.
4 Food Grade Welding Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
Welding food grade stainless steel is delie work that requires a deft touch. It can be all too easy to make some severe welding mistakes if the designer or welder aren’t aware of the specific requirements of the specific food appliion the steel wire basket or tray is going to be used for.
Welding Consumeables - MIG & Flux-Cored Wire
In Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), you won''t be using a stick electrode or a filler rod. Instead, everything you need to deposit a weld comes from a spool of metal wire. In this welding process, more popularly known as MIG, a tank of gas (typically CO2 or argon) provides the shielding while the wire melts into the base metal.

11 Tips to Sharpen Your MIG Welding Skills
Feb 04, 2018· “For better penetration, keep the arc at the leading edge of the weld puddle,” says Collier. The exception to this rule would be when welding thin sheet metal. In this case, keep the arc back farther in the puddle to prevent burn-through. 7. Match Drive Rolls, Gun Cable Liner, Contact Tip to the Wire …

I can''t see what I''m welding???? - Weld Talk Message Boards
Nov 11, 2005· I just bought a MM175 and was trying to run some beads with .030 flux core wire but I can''t see what I''m doing. My helmet is a HF AD and I''ve tried all the available shades on it but I still can''t see more than just the arc at the end of the wire. Even the puddle is not really visable, let alone the metal joint that I''m trying to weld.
How to Bond Metal to Metal Without Soldering | Hunker
Soldering is one method that is widely used to accomplish this. Soldering "glues" the pieces of metal together by melting a softer metal to act as an adhesive. While soldering is useful for many purposes, it has limitations. Tradesmen often use brazing or welding instead to …
How to Weld Cast Iron With a Wire Feed Welder | Our Pastimes
Apr 12, 2017· Welding on cast iron is a bit different than welding on most other metals. Because of its chemical makeup, cast iron is very prone to cracking when heat is applied. Metals such as wrought iron or mild steel can simply be welded with minimal preparation. However, welding cast iron requires the material to already be

Welding vs. Brazing Bike Frames | Mission Bicycle
Nov 10, 2014· Welding differs in that it actually melts the filler metal and the frame material so when cooled all three have coalesced into one solid. Think of an ice cube that''s just starting to melt. The surface of the cube is covered in liquid water, but the structure of the cube is still intact.
Welding Cable - Wire, Cable and Accessories Guides
Welding cable size is measured by the American Wire Gauge (AWG) standard. AWG sizes will have three nuers, for example, "2 AWG 625/30." This means that the welding cable has a total cross sectional area of 2 AWG and is made from 625 strands of 30 AWG wire. View the AWG reference table below for dimensions and sizing of welding cable.
How to Compare and Choose Between MIG and TIG Welding
MIG, or metal inert gas, welding is a process that involves continuously feeding a metal wire into the weld being made. The consumable welding supply of the wire acts as a filler material to help join the two metal objects. This process is also known as GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding).
This is a good wire. I''ve sold welding wire for 35 years. All the major brands from the early days when there wasn''t an .030" size available. The wire arrived in good condition. No rust. Not cross wound which would prevent the wire from feeding. In the past, spools wouldn''t survive shipping. The spool survived in …
